چکیده

Description: In recent years, the proliferation of available video content and the popularity of the Internet have encouraged service providers to develop new ways of distributing content to clients. Increasing video scaling ratios and advanced digital signal processing techniques have led to Internet Video-on-Demand applications, but these currently lack efficiency and quality. Scalable Video on Demand: Adaptive Internet-based Distribution examines how current video compression and streaming can be used to deliver high-quality applications over the Internet. In addition to analysing the problems of client heterogeneity and the absence of Quality of Service in the Internet, this book:-assesses existing products and encoding formats;-presents new algorithms and protocols for optimised on-line video streaming architectures;-includes real-world application examples and experiments;-sets out a practical 'toolkit' for Dynamically Reconfigurable Multimedia Distribution Systems. Written by an expert in the field of video distribution, Scalable Video on Demand: Adaptive Internet-based Distribution provides a novel approach to the design and implementation of Video-on-Demand systems for Software Engineers and researchers. It will also be useful for graduate students following Electronic Engineering and Computer Science courses.

A Novel Caching Strategy in Video-on-Demand (VoD) Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Networks Based on Complex Network Theory

The popularity of video-on-demand (VoD) streaming has grown dramatically over the World Wide Web. Most users in VoD P2P networks have to wait a long time in order to access their requesting videos. Therefore, reducing waiting time to access videos is the main challenge for VoD P2P networks. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for caching video based on peers' priority and video's popula...

Internet TV Architecture Based on Scalable Video Coding

The heterogeneity of the Internet raises several problems to the distribution of multimedia contents. This paper starts by introducing those problems and briefly overviewing the main approaches being used to mitigate them, in order to present a novel web-based Adaptive Video Streaming solution prototype, supporting Scalable Video Coding (SVC) techniques. The proposed solution, with focus on the...

Scalable internet video-on-demand systems

In this thesis on Scalable Internet Video-on-Demand Systems solutions are provided that allow scalable streaming in today’s Internet. These solutions allow the optimization of existing Videoon-Demand applications, as well as the integration of new mechanisms in the video streaming area. With the increasing popularity of video and audio data in packet switched networks and the lack of quality of...

Scalable Video Coding and Transport over Broad-Band Wireless Networks

With the emergence of broadband wireless networks and increasing demand of multimedia information on the Internet, wireless multimedia services are foreseen to become widely deployed in the next decade. Real-time video transmission typically has requirements on quality of service (QoS). However, wireless channels are unreliable and the channel bandwidth varies with time, which may cause severe ...
